Cyprus Information

Cyprus is the third largest Mediterranean island and is located in the eastern Mediterranean. The swimming season usually starts in April and extends until November, thus Cyprus is a popular destination and a good alternative to the Canary Islands during the Easter holidays and also extremely popular in the autumn holidays. As throughout the Mediterranean summer is hot, but there are significant differences in the regions: in Nicosia, summer temperatures can reach over 40 degrees, the coastal areas are, however, far more comfortable with 30 - 35 degrees and the west of the island, the Paphos region, is during summer time 2-4 degrees cooler than the east of the island.

Due to its sheltered location Cyprus enjoys a very mild climate and daytime temperatures of around 15 to 20 degrees in winter time. Especially the area around Paphos is due to its impressive landscape with green mountains, breathtaking coastal regions and many historical treasures in winter extremely popular with walkers, nature lovers, mountain bikers, peace-seekers and history buffs. The naturally-grown towns and villages offer enough variety and most taverns and restaurants are open throughout the winter. From January till March, Troodos Mountains (the highest peak is 1952 meters high) has snow at times, here is also a small ski slope. But in just 45 minutes drive you can reach the coast and even if there is snow in Troodos, the temperatures at the Coast can be high enough for swimming.
